Restorative Dentistry

Dentures.

Dentures restore your ability to chew, speak, and feel comfortable after tooth loss. Full or partial — Dr. D'Alesio works with trusted labs to achieve a natural-looking, well-fitting result. Proper fit is everything, and we take the time to get it right.

A lot of patients feel embarrassed bringing up dentures — please don't. Tooth loss happens for all kinds of reasons, and getting a well-fitting denture is just practical, good care. We've helped a lot of people with this.

Full dentures and partial dentures

A full denture replaces all the teeth in an upper or lower arch. A partial denture fills in gaps when some natural teeth are still present — it clasps onto those remaining teeth for stability and keeps everything aligned. Both are custom-made to fit your mouth specifically. We work with trusted labs and build in a try-in visit so you can see and feel the fit before anything is finalized.

The fit matters more than anything

A denture that fits well stays in place, lets you chew without sliding, and feels comfortable through a normal day. A poorly fitting one does the opposite — and unfortunately some patients have had that experience elsewhere. We take detailed impressions and jaw measurements, and we don't rush the process. If adjustments are needed after delivery, that's completely normal and expected — we build those visits in.

What the process looks like

1

Impressions and measurements

We take precise impressions of your mouth and record how your jaws relate to each other. This is the foundation of a well-fitting denture.

2

Try-in visit

Before the final denture is made, you try in a wax version. You check the fit, how it looks, and how it feels. We make changes here, not after.

3

Final delivery

The finished denture is seated and we check everything — bite, stability, comfort. Follow-up adjustments are part of the process and always available.

Adjusting to a new denture

Speaking and chewing will feel different at first — this is normal and typically improves within a few weeks.
Some minor soreness on the gums as they adapt is common. We adjust until it's comfortable.
Remove your dentures at night to let your gum tissue rest and slow natural bone changes.
Adhesives can help initially, but a well-fitting denture shouldn't need them long-term.

Common Questions

How much do dentures cost in Pittsburgh?

The cost varies depending on whether you need partial or full dentures, which arch, and the materials used. We give you a full breakdown after your evaluation — no surprises. Payment plans are available through CareCredit and Cherry.

How long does it take to get dentures?

The process typically involves 3–4 appointments over several weeks. A try-in visit is built in so you can evaluate the fit before anything is finalized. Actual timeline depends on your specific case.

Will my dentures look natural?

Modern denture teeth look far more natural than they did a generation ago. We select tooth shapes, shades, and gum tones based on your facial features. The goal is that it looks like you, not like a set of dentures.

How long does it take to get used to dentures?

Most patients adapt within 4–8 weeks. Speaking and chewing feel different at first — that's just your muscles and tongue getting used to new geometry. With practice it becomes second nature. We're available for adjustments whenever you need them.

Can I eat normally with dentures?

Many denture wearers eat a full diet without trouble. Some foods — very hard or sticky items — can be more challenging, especially early on. Most patients find their range of comfortable foods expands as they adapt.
